BEFORE IT BEGINS
After you book your session with me, you are not on your own - I will send you a quick "Playbook" (PDF) that outlines some wardrobe suggestions, alongside a "3 simple rules" guide to help make the most of our time together. If you don't have a special location in mind, we will collaborate to find a location that works best for all of us and our shared portrait session vision!
Beautiful photography is a team effort, and we're going to create amazing things together!
ON THE DAY OF YOUR SHOOT
Most first-time clients are worried, nervous, or anxious as they drive toward their photo location to meet me, and I can't lie.... I am a little nervous and anxious to meet you too! It's almost like a blind date, but not at all! One of my biggest fears is not recognizing each other, so I usually have my camera around my neck and I am awkwardly smiling at every couple or family that could potentially be YOU until that magic moment happens and we find each other.
Once we say hello, it is time for the fun to begin!
I'll start photographing as we wander about to find the perfect spot to start shooting, so remember my tips you'll receive in the playbook ahead of the photoshoot as we walk and talk and get to know each other better. My sessions are a mix of candid moments and posed ones (if you want them) so when you receive your final collection you have a lot of different options to choose from.
I'M A LITTLE OUT THERE
I am a high energy photographer, even on my worst days, which most people love because it helps to get natural smiles and authentic laugher from my subjects. That "paste-on-school-photo-smile" just won't do it for me, so I will make sure to find everyone's funny bone and will stop at nothing to make sure every last person is having a great time (yes, even those of you who absolutely hate having your photo taken).
Now, I always start with some simple and straight forward poses to help break the ice and help to get us all comfortable together, but from there we usually shake it up with some activities or movements to help bring real life into the images and make them feel authentic and effortless. I try to keep things playful and interactive, so that it doesn't feel like a chore to get these photos taken.
WHEN THE PARTY IS OVER
Sessions typically last 45 minutes to 1 hour, and that's when your job is done! (whoop whoop)
It usually takes me between 2 and 4 weeks to edit your photos and deliver your collection via an online gallery. Feel free to download your images, share your gallery with others, or take advantage of the print shop, if you need it! I also offer custom album design if you want to make a book out of your family session!
